Summer may be winding down but there is no slowing down when it comes to events in Houston this August. From music performances and festivals to culinary experiences and traveling art installations, these are the can’t miss events happening in Houston this month. How many will you go to?

Pipilotti Rist: Pixel Forest and Worry Will Vanish

When: Now through September 17
Where: 1001 Bissonnet, Museum of Fine Arts Houston
Visitors to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston can take a stroll through Pixel Forest, an installation that has been described as a digital image that exploded in space, comprised of thousands of carefully placed hanging LED lights that are controlled remotely and constantly changing to the music and rhythm. Worry Will Vanish is a corner projection with a lyrical soundtrack composed by Anders Guggisberg. The two art installations won’t be here for long. Visitors to MFAH can experience the exhibits in addition to accessing the museum’s art collections by purchasing tickets. Adult tickets are $18, children under the age of 12 are free.

Houston Restaurant Weeks

When: August 1 through September 4
Where: Multiple locations
This month-long culinary event showcases Bayou City’s top restaurants and dining establishments. Restaurant-goers can enjoy delicious brunches, lunches and dinners at locations across the greater Houston area, from Uptown and Midtown to Sugar Land and The Woodlands. The event is powered by volunteers and 100 percent of the proceeds benefit Houston Food Bank. Pre-fixe menus for Houston Restaurant Weeks range from $20 for lunch to $35 and $45 for dinner.

Houston International Jazz Festival

When: August 4-6
Where: 520 Texas St, Revention Music Center
The 27th annual Houston International Jazz Festival will be taking over the Revention Music Center over the weekend of August 4-6. The event will kickoff August Jazz Month and will in bring jazz artists from around the world. Tickets are sold for each day and can be purchased via the Houston International Jazz Festival website.

Beyond the Pines Music Festival

When: August 5
Where: 7575 N Sam Houston Pkwy., Sam Houston Race Park
Back for a second year, this Northwest Houston music festival will showcase soul, rock and Texas country music. Award-winning artists like Ryan Bingham are set to take the stage. There will also be beer and food at the festival. General admission tickets are $38. VIP tickets are $150. The festival benefits the DAWG Foundation, a non-profit which provides trained companion dogs to assist wounded military veterans.

 

Latin Fest

When: August 6
Where: 21300 I-45 N, Wet ‘N’ Wild Splashtown
Head to The Woodlands’ Wet ‘N’ Wild Splashtown for a day of fun at Latin Fest. Happening on August 6, Latin Fest will have food, live music and plenty of family-friendly activities for your entire crew. Orquesta Mi Rumba will be performing on the wave pool concert stage for the festival. Tickets can be purchased online via the Wet ‘N’ Wild Splashtown website. The water park is open from 10am to 7pm.
