We love wet noses and wagging tails, and it’s evident in our welcoming We Love Pets Policy, a policy that allows all dog breeds, no matter the weight or size, to live at our communities. If you’re thinking about adopting a pet, you can rest assured that your new best friend will find a furever home at MCLife. Here are some pet adoption spots in the Houston-area.
Houston SPCA
900 Portway Drive
Open 7 days a week, Monday through Friday from 11am to 7pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm, Houston’s SPCA makes adopting an animal in need easy. Adoption rates for puppies and adult dogs range from $95 to $195 and cats and kittens can be adopted for between $65 and $95. Each animal comes with an adoption package that includes spaying and neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, deworming, heartworm testing for dogs older than six months, a treat or toy compliments of pet safe, and an adoption gift from Hill’s Science Diet. The SPCA offers special rates for “Golden Paws” pets. These are senior cats and dogs that have found their way to the shelter. These animals receive the same adoption package as other pets adopted from the shelter.
Keep an eye out for the adoption bus. The SPCA mobile adoption bus travels around the Houston area, making adoption accessible to all communities.
Save A Purrfect Cat

Save a Purrfect Cat Rescue is a 501(c)3 no-kill adoption network that is committed to finding kittens and cats a new home. The organization does not have a shelter, rather Save a Purrfect Cat Rescue relies on volunteers and foster homes to care for the kitties until they are adopted. If you are interested in adopting a cat or kitten you must first fill out an adoption application online. Adoption fees are $100, however, adopters may be asked to pay more due to breed. Before adoption, all cats receive a full health screening which includes vaccinations, deworming, ear mite treatment, and other testing. Potential adopters can see the available cats online via the Save a Purrfect Cat Rescue website.
City of Baytown Animal Services and Adoption Center

Open Tuesday through Saturday, from 12pm to 5pm, the City of Baytown Animal Services and Adoption Center provides Baytown-area residents the chance to adopt furever friends. Thinking about adopting? BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions

BARC is Houston’s animal shelter and adoption facility. BARC accepts all pets that come through their doors, no matter breed, size or temperament. Oftentimes these animals come from stray pickups, owner surrendered or they are rescued.The BARC team takes special care and works with each pet individually, showing compassion and responsibility. All pets are given proper veterinary upon arrival. BARC regularly hosts adoption events. Potential adopters can check out the BARC events calendar to see what’s coming up next. Here, adoption rates are very affordable. Cat adoptions are $20 all the time, and dogs are $50. BARC also has special programs for veterans and seniors. Throughout the month of March all pet adoptions for pets five months and older are just $20.
