10 Opportunities to Give a Compliment in Your Day

Whether you are surrounded by family, friends, or strangers, it is the perfect day to make someone feel good about themselves with a genuine compliment.

1. Start With Your Immediate Family

When you wake up in the morning, start today off right by giving everyone in your household a compliment. Unlike every other day of the year when you’re rushing to get out the door, give yourself some extra time to spread some family cheer.

2. Write to Your Extended Family

Chances are you won’t be able to see every member of your family today, so send them an email or letter with a compliment. Just be sure to get it in the mail early so it arrives in a timely manner.

3. Do Something Special for Your Significant Other

Your spouse does a lot for you and your family. Give them a little gift, plan a date night, or find a creative way to say thank you. While you should try to compliment your spouse every day, make this day extra special.

4. Compliment Your Children

Your kids deserve just as much praise as you do. Thank them for everything they do around the house, and be sure to tell them why you love them.

5. Set up a Friend Date

Friends can be just as important as your family, so be sure to include them on National Compliment Day. Get everyone together for a party to give each other compliments, send them a text, or write them a card to give them a nice compliment.

6. Talk to Your Neighbors

We hope that you feel a sense of community at our properties in Austin. When you see your neighbors walking around the complex, take the time to give them a nice compliment. A little kindness goes a long way in making somewhere feel like home.

7. Go the Extra Mile for a Coworker

You spend a lot of time with your coworkers, so don’t forget about them on National Compliment Day. Tell your team why they’re great at their jobs and what you like most about them.

8. Compliment Your Boss

While it may feel a little odd or like you’re sucking up, your boss deserves a compliment as well. Tell them why they make a great boss and why you like working from them.

9. Compliment a Stranger

Just because you don’t know someone personally doesn’t mean you can’t give them a compliment. Take a little extra time to notice the people around you and give them a compliment as you pass by.

10. Don’t Forget Yourself

You deserve a little praise today as well. When you wake up in the morning or before you go to sleep, give yourself a few compliments to boost your self-esteem.

If you have some great ideas for paying it forward with compliments and kindness today, tell us all about it in the comments!
